Fee Schedule
Fees are set in accordance with the Scale of Fees Recommended by the Society of Notaries of New South Wales Inc, effective 1 January 2024. All fees are quoted in Australian dollars. GST is applied where applicable.
The Notary should take the individual circumstances of each attendance into account (such as the time involved and the work performed) when applying the above fee. Where multiple or complex documents are involved, it may be appropriate to apply the Notary’s hourly rate. All other outlays and out-of-pocket expenses (e.g. DFAT fees, ASIC searches) are payable in addition.
Disbursements & Third-Party Charges
In addition to the fees above, the following disbursements may be payable:
Identity and document verification search fees where required
DFAT apostille or authentication fees payable to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Travel expenses for attendances outside the Notary's office, calculated per kilometre or at actual cost
Embassy and consulate legalisation fees charged by the relevant foreign mission
Courier and postage charges where documents must be forwarded to a third party or authority
Any other disbursements reasonably incurred, provided prior notice is given before the cost is incurred
The Engagement Process
A clear and predictable process from initial enquiry through to delivery of your completed documents.
Initial Enquiry
Contact Crimston Law & Advisory to describe the documents requiring notarisation and the destination jurisdiction. A scope of services and initial cost estimate will be provided in writing.
Costs Agreement
You will receive a written costs agreement setting out the services, fees, disbursements, and your rights under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW). The engagement does not proceed until this agreement is signed.
Identity Verification
The Notary verifies your identity before performing any notarial act. Acceptable documents include an Australian or foreign passport, driver licence, proof of age card, or a birth certificate from a State or Territory Registry.
Performance of Notarial Acts
The Notary performs the requested notarial acts with professional skill, care, and diligence. All acts are recorded in the Notary's register as required by applicable professional obligations.
Authentication & Delivery
Where apostille, legalisation, or consular requirements apply, the Notary coordinates with DFAT and the relevant foreign mission. Completed documents are released upon full payment of all outstanding fees and disbursements.
The Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW) affords you the following important protections in relation to legal costs and professional conduct:
